Name your favorite person in the agency: The media team!

Cyril

Department: General Intern
Year in School: Junior
Major: Biology & Communications and Media
Career goals: Avoid CEM’s
Advice for future interns: Jump into the ADmosphere, and breathe deep! It’s a lifestyle not a job.
Favorite and least favorite things about the internship: My favorite thing about DN3 is the work environment. Not only is the work space creative and fun, but so are the people. My least favorite thing about DN3 is the fact that some days are rather slow. On days like this, I make the most of my time by working on my long-term internship project.
Funny/creative extra: Diggin’ the Keg-erator in the agency kitchen.
What you learned about the internship/advertising: The most I’ve gleaned from this internship has been centered around Account Services. My interpretation has been that an Account Services Rep. is much like a psychiatrist, but instead of working with clients to understand their own emotions, they work with clients to understand their own creative ideas. Furthermore, they act as a liaison between the agencies Creative staff and the client to reach a common goal.

Jenny Van Der Kar

Department: Account Service

Year in School: Senior

Major: Advertising

Career goals: Well, first, to actually get a job. In the long run, though, I would like to be a successful, happy account executive working on some really unique clients.

Advice for future interns: Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Erika and Suzanne have been very valuable information sources especially for career advice, but would have never been able to help if I had not taken some initiative and asked.

Favorite and least favorite things about the internship: Favorite thing -
getting to help with actual clients, whether it be research, proofing, or even listening in on conference calls. Anything that gives me experience with clients is great. Least favorite – the interesting selection of music. I’ve definitely expanded my repertoire of oldies and smooth jazz.

Funny/creative extra: Be careful if you are working here during any holiday that involves candy. The three candy bowls placed around the office during Halloween were too tempting to pass up.

What you learned about the internship/advertising: Overall, the internship has given me a lot of insight into what is happening in the advertising industry. I have learned how important it is to be up-to-date with new technology, innovative campaigns, and unique ideas. The industry is changing so fast and in order to be successful, you have to constantly be thinking of new ways to reach customers.

Name your favorite person in the agency: Marsha Daigle. Period.

Natasha

Year in School: Senior
Major: B.F.A. Advertising Design + B.F.A. Graphic Design
Career goals: Work as an art director/creative director and eventually own my own agency
Advice for future interns: Ask questions about everything, this is a learning experience!
Favorite and least favorite things about the internship: Favorite: it’s very hands-on, I LOVED going on the photo shoot. Least Favorite: THE SERVER! I always have issues with getting files to work…maybe that’s my/my computer’s fault but I prefer to blame the server.
Funny/creative extra: I’m a little OCD and from where I sit I can clearly see Taylor’s desk…I’ve definitely spent some time mentally re-organizing it, sorry Taylor
What you learned about the internship/advertising: I learned to move at a faster pace! I realized—at the initial stages of any creative project— it’s more about producing a ton of ideas than it is about perfectly executing a handful. Also learned art directors wear many more hats than I initially expected…which I was very happy to learn.
Quote something about the internship: Working at an agency this size has given me a much more hands-on experience than I could have gotten anywhere else + everyone is very friendly and the quirky environment makes this a fun experience.
Name your favorite person in the agency: Marsha, because she knows EVERYTHING!
